時不時都會關注每年英皇8級鋼琴表演的考試曲目。一直覺得他們的選曲很棒 —— 分3個時段 A: 巴洛克和古典主義， B: 奏鳴曲和浪漫主義，C: 後浪漫主義和近現代的曲目都是非常具特徵。
國內的考試曲目難度要高點。例如 6 級時就有貝多芬的 《悲愴》作為選曲了。但是考核時，評審的東西不一樣。英皇的8級表演得有5級的樂理作為必須的知識基礎，再加現場視奏。考核涉及的知識面更廣，而且演奏時不僅僅看是否能彈下來，也得看感情書法。演奏完的時候還會問你對曲目的瞭解以及體會。

電子音樂+教堂神聖福音其實早已存在，如上，Enigma 的 "Sadness"。電子元素在歐美主流音樂裏面已經不是什麼特殊的美學，經常都會被用到。

我非常欣賞夏威夷音樂的一點便是，儘管音樂科技不斷發展更新，很多地方的主流音樂都越來越數碼化，但當代夏威夷音樂依然能保持其樂器性 (acousticness)和真實性 (authenticity)。其女聲演唱的方法，既類似美國早期鄉村音樂的yoodeling，也在某些方面與日本的演歌女聲唱法相近。

自電影《Casablanca》 以來，歌曲 As Time Goes By 一舉成名。眾百版本，差不多所有歌星都得翻唱一遍。
除了原版以外，發覺 Erroll Garner 的這首錄音是本人比較喜歡的版本。

任何「路粉」都得知道他的 Hot Five 和 Hot Seven，路路與樂隊於20 － 30年代時錄下了傳統爵士的靈魂所在。

2012年平安夜，他已醉醺醺。播放著路路的 Hot Five，他突然留下了眼淚。說「聽，你聽這音樂。為甚麼這音樂是如此的純潔，世間上竟然有如此美麗的聲音。為甚麼可以這樣的真切，這音樂。」他邊哭邊說，手緊緊地握著CD盒。
他是她見過第一個被音樂的美感動至流淚的男人。
Blind Willie McTell - Pal of Mine (1949/1959)
和友人聊起有關「朋友」主題的歌。在我心中，McTell的這首「Pal of Mine」占首位。原版於1949年錄製 (當年也錄了有好幾個 take )，這個版本是為了專輯 Last Sessions 於1952年重新錄製。McTell先生在 1959 年去世，專輯於1962年發行。在專輯中，McTell在歌與歌之間講述了很多有關他人生的故事，監製把他都保留下來了，非常難得一段口述歷史。這一代藍調樂人的故事很多都不為人知。
