Rhythm And Romance - Fats Waller

Fats Waller - "Rhythm and Romance" (1937)

Fats Waller is one of the most famous jazz musicians, composers during the traditional jazz era (20s, 30s). His left hand plays in jumping style with a 4/4 rhythm beat, which keeps its swing of traditional jazz; while his right hand, improvise around the main melody freely just like it is dancing. Therefore, Fats contributed a high degree towards the coming modern jazz. He was also a fantastic composer. Many famous jazz standards were written by him, for example "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Honeyhuckle Rose", both song were listed in the Grammy hall of frame, and were re-performed by many other musicians.

Sadly, this genius died at a younge age when he was 39.
